Notice of Annual General Meeting 2019

The Annual General Meeting of the Council of Somali Organisations (CSO) shall be held at 4.30 pm on Thursday, 28 March 2019 in the Voluntary Action Islington, 200A Pentonville Road, London N1 9JP.

Members of the Council are entitled to attend all general meetings or may appoint a proxy if notified in writing to the Charity at its registered office at least 48 hours before the start of the meeting.  A form is available for this purpose upon request to the Secretary/Director, Kahiye Alim (

Supporters and Non-member public may also attend general meetings as observers, but may not vote.  Supporters should be aware that space will be limited so not everyone may be accommodated and priority will be given to Members.



  1. To note that on 26th January 2019, the Trustees resolved to change the requirement in Article 19 (1) of the Company’s Articles of Association that the appointments of Coopted Trustees be increased to upto 5 in between AGM’s by way of Special Resolution at the AGM.
  2. Selection of New Trustee’s as per CSO’s Articles and Recruitment Policy. (Please see our website for Trustee Recruitment Advert). Email for Recruitment Pack if interested.
  3. To note and receive the annual report of the Trustees and the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 March 2018.
  4. To confirm the reappointment of Goldwins as external examiner of the Charity at a fee to be agreed by the Trustees.
  5. To receive a report on the activities of the Charity.


NB This section will form the main part of the meeting.  It will consist of a number of presentations describing the work and the strategic development of the CSO.  Members will have the opportunity to ask questions and generally learn more about the Charity.

There will be a presentation by the New Director of CSO, Kahiye Alim. Additionally there will be guest speakers, Mr. Maurice Wren, CEO of the Refugee Council and others. CSO will be presenting in collaboration with Scrutton Bland LLP New members insurance scheme.
